Latest company news about Beijing Police Crack Down on Unauthorized Drone Flights
In recent days, the Beijing police have been actively cracking down on illegal drone flying activities, also known as "black flights", according to a report by Xinhua on August 20.
According to the "Notice of the Beijing Municipal People's Government on Announcing the Controlled Airspace of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles", the entire administrative region of Beijing is a controlled airspace for unmanned aerial vehicles throughout the year. Any flight activities require prior approval. Drone flights without official permission or in violation of relevant laws and regulations are considered "black flights".
On the evening of July 20, Chen was caught by the police while operating a drone without permission near Nankou Town, Changping District. After interrogation, Chen admitted to flying in the controlled airspace without approval. In accordance with the relevant regulations, the police confiscated Chen's drone and imposed a fine.
Another case took place on the evening of August 10. Yang, along with Jiang and Li, flew a drone for photography during their visit to the Phoenix Ridge Scenic Area in Haidian District without authorization. Yang confessed to the illegal act. The police then confiscated Yang's drone and fined him.
Officer Qiu Qingqing from the Public Order Management Detachment of the Beijing Public Security Bureau pointed out that Beijing is densely populated, with busy air routes, numerous historical and cultural heritage sites, and many key utility units. Unauthorized drone flights may disrupt normal radio communication, cause potential harm to people and property if the drone malfunctions and crashes, affect the rescue work of special units, and pose a threat to the safety of civil aviation aircraft.
The police remind drone users that they must register in advance on the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Integrated Management Platform and check the permitted flight areas. They should not take chances and engage in "black flights". The public and local units are urged to abide by the regulations on unmanned aerial vehicle management, report illegal activities, and jointly maintain airspace order and public safety. Beijing police will continue to strengthen the crackdown on illegal drone flights, enhance patrols and publicity, and work with the public to safeguard the safety of the capital's airspace.
